I’m Dan Purdy
Hi, my name is Dan Purdy. I’m a Front End Developer at Loft Digital in London. I get to spend my days designing and building websites for a multitude of different companies and brands. I’ve been interested in web design and development since I was at school where I would make websites for friends’ bands.
I haven’t always been a developer though, for five years after I graduated I worked as a technical engineer at Angel Recording Studios in London. My day to day job there would involve maintaining the equipment within the three studio complex, assisting with the more technical aspects and preparation of a recording session as well as being on hand during sessions for any technical issues that would arise. Angel Studios are predominantly an orchestral studio and the session work I was involved in included everything from pop music overdubs to big budget Hollywood film scores.
I graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a degree in Music Technology and Audio Systems, the course included modules in a variety of subjects including but not limited to, Recording, Audio Electronics, Embedded Systems and Object Orientated programming with C++.
While working on the studio I also managed to devote time to my development work too, I re designed and built the studios website in my first year there and more recently I designed, built and implemented a web based backup system that is now one of the centre points of the studios working routine. The system manages the logging of backup records for each and every session, displaying session info to clients via a welcome screen located above Reception, logging and auditing of the studios microphone collection and a fault tracking/reporting system among a number of other features. I also designed and built a bespoke jQuery based Take Counter app for use on sessions via a Raspberry Pi and a num pad.
During the last couple of years at the studio I was also spending my free time working as a freelance Front End Developer. My front end portfolio is also available to view at www.dpurdy.me which includes a lot of the work I undertook.
If you’ve made it this far then I congratulate you, I tend to ramble a bit (hence this site!).If after that you’d like to get in touch you can use my contact page or head over to my portfolio and drop me a message there.
Thanks for visiting!
I should also mention that the views and opinions I express on this site are my own and in no way reflect the views or opinions of any of my clients, Angel Studios or indeed my current employer, Loft Digital.
